Builder gel is a thicker gel that’s layered over your natural nails and cured to add strength and structure. BIAB, short for “builder in a bottle,” is a brand name that has become shorthand for this kind of strengthening overlay.
A builder gel full set is $80 and a builder gel fill is $65.
Builder gel typically lasts three to four weeks. As your nails grow, come back for a fill to keep the structure balanced.
Regular gel polish is a thin layer of color. Builder gel is thicker and shaped to reinforce the nail, so it’s better for nails that bend, peel or break. You can still finish it in any gel color. More about gel manicures.
A little. For more length, Gel-X (from $80) or acrylic is the better choice. More about Gel-X.
